An autumnal but dry morning in Adlestrop as we canter the string.  Trying to find suitable races for a a few of the horses who don’t mind top of the ground.  As ever, like London buses they all come at once but there is nothing too suitable in the coming weeks.

Yesterday it was a pleasure to welcome International event rider Bill Levett to the yard to coach our riding staff.  We have known Bill a long time and not only is he a brilliant rider but also a wonderful teacher.  The team were delighted to get so much out of Bill’s input as he did some one-on-one coaching with people and horses.

We have always been keen on complimenting the training of racehorses with other equine disciplines.  Yogi Breisner is a fine example of someone who has the ability to bring his equestrian skills to the racing world and we look forward to Bill continuing to coach our staff over the coming months.

Delighted to be invited to lunch with Alastair Down and Henrietta Knight in the garden at the Kings Head in Bledington yesterday.  Henrietta is another great example of someone who has transferred their knowledge across all equine disciplines with Hen herself having competed at Badminton in the past.

It was wonderful to catch up with her and Alastair and there were some very entertaining stories.  Very generously I was given a copy of Hen’s latest book, ‘Starting From Scratch,’ which tells the background of many National Hunt jockeys over the past few decades.  I started it last night and it is a fascinating read.
