Change of plan for entries
With Doncaster being abandoned, Muthabir will have to go elsewhere for his next run. Warwick looks in doubt on Sunday but if it is on, the ground will be too treacherous for Bertie Barnes’s come back run so once again we will have to come up with another plan. It’s all very annoying and the weather is testing us to the full – especially this morning with rain on top of ice which would have caused trouble even to Torvill and Dean. However we managed to get the string out safely.
Yesterday’s Grade 1 chase threw the form book in the air and I think it’s best putting a line through it all, although the winner must be useful. Yorkhill might be one for the Ryanair, while Sizing John ran too bad to be true and maybe this is the time to back him for the Gold Cup.
Very sad to hear the fatality of Nichols Canyon. He had always been a favourite and did us a real turn in the Stayers Hurdle last year. He was ultra-tough and will be well remembered.
