Muthabir Wins at Huntingdon
Delighted to see Muthabir win so well at Huntingdon yesterday. Always travelling well, Richard Johnson was under instructions to not take it up until after the last, which he carried out to perfection.
Coyaba also ran well despite being hampered at a crucial time in the race when the favourite fell.
Although Ian Popham has done much of the work on Muthabir, I’m sure he will be rewarded with victories on both horses in the future.
It was great to have so many owners there yesterday from The Adlestrop Experience and it was very good of John Inverdale to give such a good quote in today’s Racing Post. The horses have been running well and it would be good if a few more could get their heads in front over the next few months.
Next Lot was declared for Ludlow today but it has been frosted off, which was a shame as we were keen to run.
Paloma’s Prince is declared for Fontwell tomorrow. Although not an ideal course, hopefully we are taking advantage of the drying ground. He showed something like his old form last time out at Plumpton and hopefully he can progress further.
In all a very busy weekend and it’s always good to welcome so many owners to the gallops and schooling ground on Saturday morning. Many had attended the previous night’s Adlestrop Club Quiz, which went right down to the wire but led to a victory by the local Kilsby team. They were significantly helped by son Lawrence, who got 30 out of 30 on the Christmas carol round – not surprising considering he is a former ‘choir boy of the year’.
