Iron Horse was running very well before unseating Tom Bellamy at the second last at Taunton on Tuesday.  Making the running until the favourite took over going towards the second last, unfortunately that horse fell in front of ours and as Iron Horse tried to jump the fallen horse, he dislodged Tom.

All very unfortunate but at least we seem to be getting into a competitive position with Iron Horse and hopefully we will find a similar race for him soon.

Good luck to Noel Fehily in his retirement.  Noel is a great ambassador and an excellent horseman.  Being a gentleman, he went under the radar for quite a while before becoming the go to jockey in a big race.  His experience combined with his excellent technique, made him a favourite not only in the weighing room but for trainers, owners and punters alike.  If ever there was a mentor for someone coming into the riding game, Noel is that man.

We have a few entries for next week both on the flat and over jumps and with the ground drying up, let’s hope a little rain turns up for the end of the season.

Delighted to make my annual pilgrimage back to Kingston Warren this morning to see H Candy’s string in action.  Owner Steven Smith has three fillies with my old boss and it’s always a pleasure to see the wonderful facilities that I know so well.

Great to catch up on all subjects over lunch thanks to Henry and his wife Ginny’s excellent hospitality and in this ever changing world, it’s always a relief to see not much changes at Kingston Warren.
