A fantastic win for Totterdown at Sandown yesterday. (Photo attached by the amazing Michael Harris). Delighted for Mick, Sue, Titch, Melissa and all the supporters of Fairford Goes Racing. Having bred the horse, been present at his foaling and every stride along the way – it was a very satisfying result for all.
Great to see so many supporters of the horse present yesterday in the winners enclosure and you would have thought he had won the Whitbread judging by the reaction.
Danny Hiskett gave him a fine ride and has put a lot of work into the horse and it’s great now that Totterdown has learned to settle better. We will see what the handicapper does before deciding on his next race.
Western Storm is declared at Huntingdon tomorrow in the 3.10pm – a 2 ½ mile handicap hurdle. We are dropping back in trip and he will wear cheek pieces for the first time.
He ran two fine races in the summer at Worcester and deserves to get his head in front. Once again Tom Bellamy takes the ride.
It was great to attend Warwick on Friday for owner Richard Belcher’s stag outing. Slightly perturbed to hear that fifteen of his friends were dressing up as Tommy Cooper. However Warwick racecourse was as ever, very welcoming and many thanks to all for making them so welcome on what was an extremely entertaining afternoon for all.
Congratulations to the Warwick ground staff for winning the RCA jump track ground staff award.
We are looking forward to our Call My Wine Bluff on Friday 23rd November. The evening has been a great success in the past and this year we have a new member of the panel in Alastair Down.
Teams of eight will be given unlabelled wines for tasting and the team has to decide which of the three panel members, Alastair Down, Charlie Allan and Richard Phillips, is telling the truth about which wine it actually is.
Cheese and biscuits will be served during the evening and if you are not able to get up a team we can find you one on the night.
As ever Adlestrop Club members are invited free of charge, whilst guests are most welcome at £25 a head to include the wine and cheese. Please let us know if you can make it.
