As Richard Johnson said, it was just like the old days after Beautiful People bolted up in the first at Fontwell on Saturday.

Given the most patient of rides, Beautiful People travelled smoothly into the straight and picked up the leaders without too much effort to score by six lengths in impressive style.

Luckily the rains came too late to affect the going too much and we will see what the handicapper  does with her before deciding on her next race.

Fantastic to see so many of the syndicate able to make their way to the Sussex track.  Especially Keith Rogers, whose wife Irene sadly passed away only a few weeks ago.

Also delighted to see Keith and Irene’s great friends Ann and Mike Saunders in the winners enclosure with us.  Ann has run the Professional Jockeys Association now for about a century and is one of racing’s great ladies.

Those that couldn’t make it to the race were watching from all parts of the world including Amsterdam, West Wales and the Peak District.

Not to mention Gillette Soccer Saturday, when part-owner Jeff Stelling watched the race under his desk live on his phone while presenting and duly had to admit to viewers once she had collected.

After getting soaked on the racecourse, a few of us went to Arundel for tea and cake before heading home after a memorable day for all those involved.

With two winners in three days, our great friend John Hanmer has been some what shocked and we received two emails from him, one saying ‘Hiskett for Prime Minister’, the other saying ‘What’s going on?’

I think it’s Hanmer’s way of saying well done and let’s hope we can continue the good form for the rest of the season.
