We have declared Arctic Chief for Uttoxeter tomorrow in the 2 mile handicap hurdle.  He is a horse that has had his problems but has always worked well and hopefully there will not be too much rain at the course, as he prefers decent ground.  Danny Hiskett has done a lot of the schooling on him and will ride claiming five pounds.

Today was a morning of regular cantering for much of the string and it was good to have Archie Bellamy, brother of Tom, here riding out.

There is not much racing during September for the jumpers so our attentions turn to October, when we will hopefully have some to go to war with once the ground eases.

I played tennis last night for the first time in a while.  My doubles partner W Marston, showed great strength at the sport by hitting the ball long on most of his shots.

Our opposition, owner Rick and local ‘legal eagle’ John Dyakowski are both of retirement age but had a bit more guile and experience than their opposing pair.  We look forward to the rematch.
