No National Hunt racing from today for a few days, so quiet on the runners front but we will have a couple of flat entries for next week.

Following working a few first lot on Saturday, I attended Goodwood again thanks to the generosity of owner Steven Smith.

It was another glorious day of racing and unfortunately we missed out on the Placepot by a short head thanks to a rather tricky Stewards Cup.  Having had five winners, we were only a length and a half off having the Jackpot.

Yesterday I was asked to help present the ROR prize at Gatcombe along with the Princess Royal.  Her Royal Highness was in great form and we both admired the winner, who was an ex inmate of the Hannon stable.  He might not have been a very quick racehorse but is potentially an excellent eventer.

One of the highlights of a very enjoyable afternoon was the shetland pony Grand National.  I have met many a fine jockey in my time and it looks as though Lucas Murphy, son of Timmy – could be a future champion.

He certainly doesn’t lack confidence and looks like a champion of the future.
