Viva Rafa appeared to have lost his confidence over fences when he ran at Uttoxeter on Tuesday, following his fall previously at Southwell.
Tom Bellamy reported that he jumped indifferently at the beginning of the race and thought that his previous experience had affected his jumping.
Having schooled well at home beforehand, it is only in race conditions that brings about such an effect sometimes. Hopefully his Uttoxeter run will have helped him to regain his confidence.
Beautiful People is declared at Southwell on Sunday in the three mile handicap hurdle. Richard Johnson takes the ride and hopefully she can put up a good show, as she has always shown ability at home and on the track.
Although not the biggest she is an excellent jumper and we could possibly go chasing with her in the future and take advantage of her decent handicap mark.
I attended Newmarket sales yesterday attempting to fill a few orders that we have. Prices were pretty steep for the quality on offer and we will look elsewhere. However I enjoyed racing at Newmarket in the afternoon as a guest of owner Ed Ware.
Congratulations to Gareth Southgate and team for setting such an excellent sporting example throughout their World Cup campaign.
Thanks to the manager’s leadership – hard work, good manners, humour and effort have been brought to the fore and set a great example for young and old.
