A visit from Richard Perham today

It was great to welcome Richard Perham of the British Racing School this morning with a mobile training facility.  This is a great advancement for the industry and has been partly funded by the Racing Foundation.

Richard came to teach our staff the ‘advanced work riding’ course he offers.  He videoed them riding work on the gallops and reviewed it with them afterwards.  They then each had the opportunity to have a go on the racehorse simulator, when he taught them how to improve their technique and body position.  Richard was very impressed with the riding skills of our staff and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we look forward to him returning in the new year.

It was good to catch up with Richard as he rode many of my early flat winners for owners such as Lord Vestey and Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.

It was great to be a guest at Plumpton yesterday, at the Moorcroft Charity day.  The lunch is always a very jolly affair and it was great to catch up with so many owners.  Much needed monies were raised for Moorcroft Racing Welfare Centre.
