Festival Thoughts

We decided to give Wolverhampton a miss with Madame Ritz as there are a couple of decent types in the race.  Hopefully we can find an easier contest.  She showed promise on her debut and we will enter her for Southwell next week in the hope of a less competitive contest.

Hopefully Bertie Barnes will go to Warwick on Saturday and although the ground will be far from ideal, it will be good to get him out and about again.  He will appreciate better ground and hopefully with spring on the way, he will give his enthusiastic owners some excitement over the coming months.  There is an eighth share available to lease in him – so please let us know if you would like to join in on the upcoming fun.

The Festival Pricewise makes interesting reading and yesterday he selected Finian’s Oscar as a possible value bet in the Stayers Hurdle.  At this stage I think it would be foolish to rule out Unowhatimeanharry at 14s, as his wind may well work better on better ground.

Today he goes through the Gold Cup and chooses Anibale fly at 33s as he appears to be improving fast.  There doesn’t seem to be a lot of value about at the top of the market, but it sounds as though the Twiston-Davies camp could take Blaklion there as a run before the Grand National and at 33-1, this impressive Aintree scorer could run into a place.
