A chilly morning of schooling

A chilly morning of schooling and working with Danny Hiskett helping out.  No runners this week but we are making entries for next week, including flat and jumps.

Yesterday the Grand National weights were announced and looking forward to going through them and picking out some value for the big day.

I am a great fan of Blaklion and think he has a great chance along with Total Recall.  Cause Of Causes also looks good each way value at 25-1.

Handicapper Phil Smith has presided over the weights for the last time.  Inevitably handicappers are controversial people.  Typical of a deputy headmaster, he is a hard man to tell anything to but he is undoubtedly a gifted man and no doubt he will be hoping for a dead heat this year.

There has been much chat of turning racing into a team sport like Formula One.  Many good-hearted souls have come up with ideas to promote the sport further and I am all for good ideas.  However racing is such a unique sport, not like football, rugby or cricket as most of the general public have difficulty in having an affinity with riding a racehorse and all its idiosyncrasies.  I do hope I’m wrong.
