Luckily the snow has not reached Adlestrop and we can exercise the horses normally. We have had a good work morning with Danny Hiskett in to help out and the string continue to be in good form. We are in the lap of the Gods concerning runners this week and the ground won’t be very nice if racing does go ahead, but fingers crossed.
We made our annual pilgrimage to the West Berkshire Racing Club Quiz last night at Newbury racecourse. My team of john Hanmer, Sir Anthony McCoy and Charlie Poste put up a fine fight but were second to Raceform, who are a complete bunch of anoraks. However we did beat the Racing Post and the old Sporting Life team which included Geoff Lester and Mike Cattermole.
Despite Hanmer holding back on the red wine, we did make a few slips and it wouldn’t be the first time McCoy had a school report saying ‘could do better.’ However all good fun and we look forward to going one better next year.
It’s Barnsy’s birthday today, thank you for all the cards (both of them). He is going to the Fox at Oddington tonight for drinks – everyone welcome to buy him drink! Normally people do something special on their birthday but Barnsy does this most nights of the year.
